2. Sounds about White

The media is fraught with discussions around racism, and within that discussion there is a topic a large part of the population seek to deny…

White Privilege.

In this episode, I talk about what white privilege is and why in the UK we struggle to accept and acknowledge it, whilst battling at least ten interruptions during recording.

Also discussed in-between sips of a Starbucks iced coffee:

• How trying to counteract white privilege by talking about our hardships doesn’t suddenly wipe white privilege from existence
• The things we take for granted due to privilege
• The language used in media regarding BLM protests versus ‘far-right’ protesters
• Understanding our privilege in order to use it for good

 

(When I mentioned my neighbour ‘blowing up’ their hot tub, I’d like to clarify that I do not in fact mean, explosives, but instead air).
